GREAT! i think i just failed 3 subjects.
chemistry, econs and maths.
i wouldn't have expected econs to be so tough - writing fast doesn't seem to help alot! i left an 8 mark question blank, other than doing the definition of the term. and thank you very much wong mei lin! u just made me lose 20% of my econs marks.
thank u very much mr eric kua too! for being in cahoots with mrs lim and the rest of the psychotic chem dept that made me lose like... 10 out of 30 MCQ questions left undone, as well as the many blanks in the other paper. i can't believe you're such a terrible liar actually. you should go to the MJ library to borrow "dummy's guide to lying" for saying we would be ok if we did our tutorials and stuff. GREAT! i did everything u wanted me to, and tada! i get a U. i was looking forward to a exciting time for our chem paper. - but not this degree of thrill, or rather e fear.
thank u very much miss lee! for being really nice and u came to help us during consultation. ( i mean it!) but i didn't do like.. 12 marks of my math paper/ great!! another U, just for U. be prepared for more fUUUUn.
luckily geog was pretty fine. oh well. and our new CT is mr nathan rookie or something, our teacher for orientation. i guess he's a nice man! =] and my econs tutor is... MISS LOH!
great!
ok i can't wait for chinese to end. there's a class outing on thursday! and i'm going to visit amanda in hospital. GREAT!

HELLO BLOG! it's been a few days since i've been on blogland. it's starting to be a hassle, having to take a flight over to blogland. i shall just hop in since i just finished copying answers from IVLE for our chem mid year package. there were discrepancies in the answers but bah, i'm too lazy to email mr kua. he wouldn't care, anyway.
let me start from friday morning. i crawled out of bed, my eyes droopy and my mind hazy. yet there was this determination to wake up because i was meeting faith, rachel and huiqi for a studying session in MJc! the thought of them going to MJ is so.. deja vu. it seemed like i was teleported back into the good old days where faith, rachel and i would go to each others' classes to chit chat about anything. oh wait. rache and i were in the same class and let's see. we sat like 2 metres away from each other? =] i would go to 4d to meet cheryl and since cheryl and huiqi sat together i technically, am a half 4d student.
wait
that reminds me of a... subshell?
haha. anyway so faith and i were as usual very punctual ( i don't have a bad habit of being late thankyou). =] thanks for the little gifts girl! she makes me earrings everytime we see each other. and i have 7 pairs made by her, inclusive of one pair rachel made with her. PSST. i'll take pictures of them next time when i have gotten myself out of this jungle of books. please go to http://theteddybearpicnic.blogspot.com if you want to see marvellous products of faith's shop.
i really enjoy studying with these people, i really do. studying with them humbles myself, because i realise there is just so much i can learn from them - studying techniques, atttitude, etc. each time i meet up with them, i am impressed. so i guess being humble (like what mrs chee always always emphasizes when it comes to learning) will make one go far. =] i think KI - knowledge and inquiry is so amazing, it breaks arguments up, and literally everything we learn on books are hypothesis-made, and the purpose of KI would be to dismantle these theories.
what are we learning? it can be bull-crap, for all you know.
ok even though it might be useless and all shit and we're learning what other people deem it to be, still must study right? =] haha. i'm almost there. i'm asking God for that empowerment. i've prepared well (uggh exxcept for maths haha) so alot of it would be the performance for the exams itself.
YAy! i'm watching shrek 3 with my sister next wednesday. my parents pronounce it as stretch 3.
then saturday was spent lazing around, doing a bit of work here and there.
sunday was FATHER'S DAY!!!! HAPPY DAD's day t0 my papa. he's an amazing man although he doesn't fetch me to school nowadays and i do get a bit disgruntled over it.. but then again, it's a luxury. who ask me to go to MJC which is located in this weird place called pasir ris. then again, it's not that i live in woodlands or lakeside that travelling 40 minutes to school is a chore. it's nearer for me than to TK. my sisters and i tried to cook dinner. ok it wasn't a mess, just sub-standard. i told you i'm a good housewife.

Your Brain is Green |
Of all the brain types, yours has the most balance. You are able to see all sides to most problems and are a good problem solver. You need time to work out your thoughts, but you don't get stuck in bad thinking patterns. You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about the future, philosophy, and relationships (both personal and intellectual). |

i think i can never be placed in toys'r'us with samantha and cheryl. especially that samantha. haha. we started being imaginary firemen and police women, not forgetting a deadly dosage of volleyball. i'm quite a good volleyball player but samantha thinks i'm not! that's because i hit it further and it went across about one third of the shop. ok so after playing, we waited for the little boy playing Xbox 360. he toook such a long time so we gave up waiting.
i love receiving presents - who doesn't.it means you're loved. giving is better than receiving, sometimes i think that's utter nonsense, but at times, this is so true, so close to your heart. sam made me this picture collage, so many memories came flooding back. cheryl, because of the starry brownie (i think she has magic hands she bakes so well) was late for an hour. and she have me some cute earrings and a handphone chain too.
i gave them a postcard - and the usual intake of sweets, ovalitine.
anyway i met alot of young primary 6 students at TM that day too. they were all carrying what zinc bag lah, billibong, and adidas. what the hell, these little children. i think i was still carrying my sailormoon or hello kitty bag when i was in P6 ok. kids nowadays, growing up too fast.
have you ever wondered why does time pass so fast? and so slow sometimes?

yesterday was rest day.
i never never really had a rest day where i was free from the entangling ropes of work and revisions, or rather, never had i given myself a chance to do so. that was perhaps because school used to be real fun, i never thought i was really, mugging.
ok so my official leave day went pretty well, starting off with lunch at kallang airport. i met my secondary school friend joel phang too. looking good, as always. =] after that, my family and i headed down to the expo for the john little sale. there wasn't anything spectecular there, and we ended up buying glass mugs. coincidentally a kampong festival was held there, and mom bought lots of kueh bahlus. a maternity fair was going on too, so there definitely was much hustle and bustle over at the expo.
following that, we went to dad's office for karaoke. yeah the place was huge. so our voices resonated across the entire place that looked like a more high class and not so sleazy pub. came home, dinner, tv.
i realise i can't insert any life, any scintilla of exuberance into my blog post abt my leave day.
isn't it supposed to be fulfilling and full of excitement, since you don't study? i certainly do enjoy my family's company, but there is this intangible sense of regret.
work seemingly gives me a sense of satisfaction. not that i enjoy sticking my butt on the chair, staring blankly at my notes, or writing geography notes furiously, or jabbing the buttons on my bulky GC( ok i hate using the GC!!!!). but i certainly feel less guilty if i spend some time studying.
i might become a workaholic in due time. trust me, it's not the school environment. it's me. so is it good or bad? or have i always been a workaholic? i doubt so.
today was mathematics remedial. the whole thing came and went, like a gust of wind. we sat in the classroom for hours, with miss lee's husky (oh no it's not very husky lah haha) voice ranting on and on and on. i was copying blindly, like a sheet of cloth bundled across my eyes, and me, aimlessly doing a carbon copy (only in a sweet array of colours like orange, green and pink)of what was being scribbled on the board with inkless markers, the purple stains on the board fading, fading away.. i better start putting some sense into what i'm doing.
i would rather the day pass by placidly without a worry, without a care. i would rather my day pass like the gentle swashes that leap upon the shore, and the backwashes that diminish quietly back into the deep, blue ocean. that reminds me of an innocent child, building sandcastles in the air - literally.
but then again, there goes another day.

The Winner©
By William Wilson Hare
What of the lad who never wins,
but never quits the race?
Who knows before the day begins,
he's doomed to second place.
Two left feet; too many thumbs
but still he plods ahead.
He'll arrive to catch the crumbs,
after the winners have been fed.
Who is this lad of average skills,
who's most of the human race?
One by one he'll climb life's hills,
just trying to keep life's pace.
a penny for my thoughts?
: emotional intelligence. to put it in layman terms, it's just what we commonly are associated to - EQ. it measures the way you get along with people.
as quoted from wikepedia:
Some researchers believe EI is a cognitive ability just as is IQ (eg, Mayer & Salovey, 2000), others believe it is a combination of perceived abilities and traits (e.g., Schutte et al. 1998), while others consider it a skill that can be measured (such as Bradberry and Greaves 2005). These opposing views have inspired separate domains of inventories.
i think it's so cool, it's indeed a God-given present. the human mind is such a powerful and amazing tool beyond your own imagination. so, remove all your inhibitions and let that creative spark bring you far! i'm talking rubbish.
so, people with high emotional intelligence have their own individual ways with treating people, in a diplomatic manner so we make sure we don't offend anyone. have u ever thought about karma? is it for real? what comes around, goes around, what goes up, must come down.
i dont still don't quite get the latter phrase. does it mean that one can't stay at the top always? can one alwaye be on the opposite end of failure - success, victory, achievement? such a thing?
but karma is one concept which u can possibly apply to your everyday life - for the same judgement you give people, people would on the other hand, judge you in the same way. i feel guilty at times about this too - why try to remove that speck of sand from the eyes of others, when a huge, bulky plank of wood is blocking your vision? (from the book of matthew).
OK ANYWAY< our straits times reporter gang for food review around singapore consisted of :huiqi, me, sarene, beatrice and ben. under the tutelage of our fantastic chief editor huiqi, we managed to have a great time running around the east, giving comments for all the food we took. YUMMY!!!!!! =] please refer to chief editor's blog at http://huiqi-lemongurl.blogspot.com
(disclaimer: there were some MINOR, i repeat minor moments of embarrassement like sneaking out of the wa-something jap restaurant after we realised the food was so expensive that SPH could not sponsor us, and also reading this pri2 student's compre, that left me and huiqi bursting out in gaffaws outside a tuition centre, and making this certain man who stamped his foot while we were sticking our faces at the transparent glass panel at cocoa trees, parkway. (we weren't blocking the way anyway, he can write to straits times forum to complain haha)
i miss parkway! =] and we saw many familiar TK Faces like craig from 4k. mdm faridah used to scold him all the time during english AG lessons. and we saw martin from 4d (whom i made friends with on the last day of school) and jianrui's good friend, jarrretteth. whatever u spell his name, i'm not a journalist.
this is the plot from the pri2 kid's story.
this boy, (name shall not be revealed to keep privacy intact) was sleeping and suddenly he woke up because he found out that a CAT was beside his bed. he took a pail of water and splashed it on the cat. then his neighbour downstairs shouted up because of the water. after that we were pulled away by the other journalists.
now we know how a pri 2 student thinks. didn't the boy had parents?
a penny for my thoughts?
there's this really wweird debate going on at huiqi's blog. i believe she wouldn't have been so stupid and dumb to have copied wholesale from amanda chong's essay (aiyah anyone in the right frame of mind wouldn't want to be accused of infringing her copyrights). amanda chong's writing was indeed a good source of inspiration, and her way of writing would definitely prove to be worthy because people can learn from her style of fluent writing, the way she describes in such a flowery manner. haha. i still remember the first sentence, about the car careening down the highway and "elaine" clucking away angrily on her phone.
so whatever the debate is about, let's be objective about it. huiqi, no doubt, she has excellent writing skills, and although the general plot was inspired by chong, we cannot dispel the FACT that huiqi, herself, is a commendable writer who will respect others' work as well.
let's be happy people =]
SMILE!
and i'm going to become like this goatie here. my braces appointment is on the 28july!

the reality of dreams.
A third of average people's life is spent asleep.
During a typical lifetime, a person spends around 6 (over 2,100 days) years dreaming.
Dreams have existed from the dawn of humankind. The first known records of dreams were made 4,000 years ago.
The art of dream interpretation has existed nearly as long. Dream interpreters were used even in the early day of Rome where they were advising senators before making political decisions.
Everyone dreams, even if we don't remember it afterwards. An average person dreams between four and seven times a night.
Some animals dream, too. The scientist are sure that all mammals are capable of dreaming, and it is suspected that some other animals like reptile may dream as well. We have no idea though what they may dream about.
Without dreaming people will soon suffer personality disorders and severe psychological problems. While the exact function of dream sleep remains a mystery, dreaming is necessary for us to live and keep our sanity intact.
Blind people can dream, too. Their dreams may contain visual images if they have been able to see earlier, but the dreams of those who have been blind since their birth do not. Such dreams are made entirely of sounds, smells and touch sensations.
Oftenitmes we forget dreams as soon as we wake up. Probably as much as 50% of the content of any dream is lost within five minutes of waking. After 10 minutes we can forget even 90% of the dream content.
The word "dream" comes from Middle English. There the word, "dreme" meant "music" and "joy". This indicates that dreams have been treated as a source of inspiration and wonder.
Most men usually have dreams about other men, but women have dreams about both sexes in similar proportions.
Human brain is more active when we're sleeping than when we're awake.
People who are awakened during dream sleep are usually able to describe their dreams very vividly. Those who wait until morning often do not remember a thing.
Both men and women sometimes experience sexual arousal during their dreams, often with little regard to the content of the dream.
Toddlers do not dream about themselves. Until a toddler reaches three or four, he/she does not show in his/her dreams.
You can't snore and dream at the same time.
The children nightmares are common. They begin at the age of three and generally last until the child reaches seven or eight years old.
Over 60% of people report at least one Deja vu experience in their dreams. Such dreams occur more frequently in women than in men.

What Your Soul Really Looks Like |
You are a very grounded, responsible, and realistic person. People may not want to hear the truth from you, but they're going to get it. You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you. Your near future is a lot like the present, and as far as you're concerned, that's a very good thing. For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust. |
